Salsa

While I’ll admit there’s a time and a place for salsa-from-a-jar, once you’ve made your own it’s mighty difficult to go back to. Fresh, full of flavour and as hot as you like it, homemade salsa is definitely one of the essential dips. The recipe below is for your standard Mexican salsa; however, if you’re feeling adventurous, try adding mango, strawberries and whatever else takes your fancy!

What you’ll need

4 tomatoes
1/2 red or white onion
3 cloves of garlic
1/4 cup chopped cilantro/coriander
1/2 chili pepper (or more if you like it hot)
1 lime
1/4 tsp salt

What to do

Now this is the best part. Literally, all you have to do is finely chop up your tomatoes, onion, garlic, coriander and chili pepper. Then squeeze in your lime juice and add your salt. Stir it all up, give it a quick taste, and play around with the lime juice, salt and chili pepper until it suits your taste. And that’s it (it’s seriously that easy)!
